Where to mountain biking in the Pohorje hills
Pohorje is a pre-Alpine hill and is very popular for hikers, cyclists, skiers, ski tourers, cross-country skiers, and paragliders. This hilly landscape lies in the northwestern part of Slovenia. The Pohorje is full of forests. It stretches from Ptuj in the south and in the west to Dravograd. The highest point is Črni vrh and is 1,543 m above sea level.

The Pohorje biking transversal
The Pohorje cycle trail runs along the ridges of Pohorje and connects the eastern part with the western. The varied cycling route is 75 km long and runs along forest roads from the church of St. Bolfenka on the Maribor side to Koča pod Kremžarjev vrh on the Carinthian side of Pohorje.
This cycling route is considered more challenging, and you will reach 1,800 m of altitude difference in its entire length.

Circular cycling route Pohorje – Kope
The circular cycling route through Pohorje and Kopa will lead you along the western side of Pohorje around the Kope. You will ride a bike along forest roads, with views of Slovenj Gradec and the surrounding area.
The trail leads to Kremžarjev vrh, which is also one of the starting points for the Pohora bicycle transversal. The entire route is 36 km long. You will cover it in 4 hours. On the way, you will overcome 620 differences in height.

Pohorje – Šumik Gorge circular cycling route
The cycling route through the Šumik Gorge runs through the very heart of Pohorje. The path winds along forest paths between lush spruce forests, along the gorge of the Oplotnica stream, which flows quietly along the trail between Pesek and Lukanja. You can start cycling on Rogla or Mariborsko Pohorje – Areh. The cycling route will take you past Šumik gorge and Osankarica. You can enrich your cycling tour with a visit to two Pohorje pearls, Črno jezero, and the waterfalls of the Šumik stream.

Cycling route Pohorje – Rogla
This circular cycling route connects the two mountain centers of Roglo and Kope. It is the longest circular cycling route in Pohorje. The cycling route runs along forest paths between Rogla and Kopa. Due to the distance of 60 km and the height difference of more than 1,800 m, it is suitable for better-prepared cyclists. You will need more than 8 hours to complete the journey.
