Hiking trails to Veliki Vrh and Velika Zelenica

Velika Zelenica is the highest peak of the Dleskov plateau. This mountain shares the ridge with Veliki Vrh. It is only a few meters lower (2110 m). From the top are invaluable views of the nearby two thousand peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

The most beautiful are the nearby Ojstrica (2350 m) and Krofička (2083 m), Molička Planina and Robanov kot. In the far east, you can admire Mt Raduha (2062 m), the ridge of the Polish Virgin (2028 m) and Križevnik (1910 m). The top of Velika Zelenica is fascinating. There is a large meadow at the top, which ends with a 1000-meter precipice wall into the glacial valley Robanov kot.

Planina Vodole – Mt Veliki Vrh and Mt Velika Zelenica

You can go to Mt Vrh and Mt Velika Zelenica in several different ways. We offer a circular path that will lead you from the parking lot (starting point), over Planina Vodole, at the foot of Mt Deska and Mt Tolsti Vrh, to the top of Veliki Vrh and Velika Zelenica. Back all the way leads over the mountain Ravne to the starting point.

Along the way, you will be able to admire the vast landscape of the Dleskov plateau and admire the highest peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

You may spot a fox, a wild hare or a weasel along the way. A wild rooster or chamois may cross your path. Along the way, you will find many alpine plants that adorn the slop of the plateau.

When you arrive at the foot of Veliki Vrh, the path will lead you along steep rocky scree to the saddle. At this point, you will have already exceeded an altitude of 2000 meters. From the saddle, you will turn right to the top of Veliki vrh. On the right is Velika Zelenica. There is a beautiful view of the surrounding peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

From Velika Zelenica, you will be able to admire the Robanov Kot valley from the top of the precipice wall (1000 m). When are good weather and good visibility, the view reaches the Julian Alps, the Karavanks and Mt Snežnik. The pos back takes you over the Dolga Trate mountain (1835 m) to the Ravne mountain to the starting point.
